What I offer:
As a therapeutic counsellor, my role is to provide a safe place for you to explore your feelings: providing an outlet for emotions brought up by life events, such as bereavement, or coping with anxiety and depression brought about by the struggle of day-to-day life.
Low self-esteem and lack of confidence can get in the way of personal growth. Counselling is about having someone to talk to you can trust, who is non-judgemental and works with you to understand your world.
I work in an integrative way, bringing together different therapies that are beneficial for you personally. Therapeutic counselling can help you to change the way you view and accept yourself. I offer short or long term counselling, depending on individual needs. Please call me on 07710 420357 to talk about how I can best help you.
Therapies I use:
- Person-centred (about you)
- Psychosynthesis (understanding yourself)
- Gesthalt (body awareness)
- Transpersonal (spirituality)
- Psycodynamic (childhood)
Counsellling can help with (for example):
- Anxiety, stress
- Bereavement (people or pets)
- Relationships (people or pets/horses)
- Life events
- Eating Disorders
- Low self esteem
- Divorce & separation
- Affairs and betrayal
How to book your first session
Taking that first step to ask for help can be extremely daunting, and it takes courage to make that call, send that text message or email.
Once we have made contact, we will make an appointment for your first session, which will be about what the counselling process is, and how we work together to give you the best support. It can take a few weeks to become familiar with how the process helps you and to feel the benefits. Counselling is not about a quick fix, but to sow the seeds of long-term progress and personal development. We will set a time and day which suits you for your future sessions.
Price of Counselling:
£40 (50 minutes)

What is Anxiety?
Anxiety can be caused by feeling helpless, having too little information, or feeling overwhelmed with too much too much information to process, to make sense of.
Feeling overwhelmed, daunted by what would normally be simple daily activities? Confused, and unable to make decisions? Anxiety can manifest as thoughts jumbling in your head, worries going around and around in your mind. Sleep may be restless and intermittent. You may feel tense, or ‘on edge’, irritable, or be unable to relax.
NHS Definition of Anxiety
Counselling provides a safe place to explore what the cause of your anxiety is, and help you to devise strategies for coping with it. Levels of anxiety dramatically reduce, or disappear altogether, once you understand how and why you become stressed. Planning life changes, or different ways of seeing problems can dramatically alter confidence levels and self-worth.
Meditation and mindfulness are also great ways to calm a busy mind and to give space for rational thought.
Reiki for Animals
I have always had a close affinity with all animals, especially horses, for as long as I can remember, but only recently have I had the courage to acknowledge that I have inherited this skill, which has led me along this path, helping others.
Reiki for your horse
Your horse must feel at ease and in their normal surroundings and routine as much as possible in order to get the most from the treatment. A session will leave them feeling very relaxed and some horses take a nap soon after as part of the healing process.
A Reiki session can be anything up to an hour as the horse dictates when he/she has had enough by moving away. Some horses, like some people, take up and use the healing energy a lot more effectively than others.
Reiki can help to:
- Reduce anxiety
- Promote self-healing
- Balance mind, body and soul
- Promote relaxation
- Reduce behavioural problems
- Release blocked energy
Reiki for your pet
Your pet is best treated in familiar surroundings to aid relaxation. Reiki healing is a gentle contact with the animal with my hands, or I can work in close proximity. Most animals enjoy Reiki and will approach for this gentle touch when they are ready. Your pet may be quite sleepy afterwards and might want to rest quietly.
Animals instinctively know how much healing they need and will generally move away when they have had enough. Some animals choose to stay a short distance away but they will still receive the healing energy the same.
Reiki is not a substitute for veterinary treatment. If your animal is under veterinary care you must obtain their permission for Reiki treatment to be given and they may even want to be present.

The Veterinary Surgery Act of 1966 prohibits anyone, other than a qualified veterinary surgeon from treating animals, including diagnosis of ailments and giving advice on such diagnosis. However the healing of animals by contact healing, by laying of hands or distant healing is legal. The Protection of Animals Act 1911 requires that if an animal clearly needs treatment from a veterinary surgeon the owner must obtain this. To give emergency First Aid to animals for the purpose of saving life or relieving pain is permissible under the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 Schedule 3. Sports Psychology is about understanding more about yourself and how you function in a sports environment.
Performing under pressure – giving your best on demand, at the right time can be very stressful. Stress and performance anxiety can have such a detrimental effect on your performance, and drastically reduce your ability.
How I work
Working on a one-to-one basis, can help you to understand what impacts on you as an athlete, and to learn about coping strategies, as well as discovering the root causes of issues that are causing concern for you.
As a Grand prix dressage competitor and former show jumper myself, I am aware of how much stress and planning goes into each and every performance. Understanding more about yourself, increasing your self-awareness, and how you function under pressure has a huge effect on how you and your horse work together as a partnership.
Classical Dressage Coach
As a classical dressage trainer, for many years, my philosophy is to fix things before taking them into the saddle. I work with riders to help with body function and mental process, unblocking negative thought patterns, which can help so much with being stuck.
A partnership with a horse is very special. Taking time to really notice what is going on for you in relation to the horse develops self-awareness and helps you to understand how you function.
Developing your relationship with your horse influences how you cope under pressure at competitions, hacking out, and knowing that your horse understands you and your aids is crucial to developing trust between you and for quick reactions when needed.
