Therapeutic Counselling – Market Lavington, near Devizes, Wiltshire

As a psychotherapist and supervisor, my work is founded on my own life experience, which led me understand the value of having someone to talk to when life gets too much to cope with alone.

Contact me to arrange an initial chat on the phone, where we can arrange a time for your first session of you would like to book in.

Moving forwards, my aim is to help you express feelings you may not have been able to voice before, and understand the traumatic impact of life-changing events, of grief (the loss of loved ones, both human and animal), childhood experiences, all of which can affect the ability to cope with day-to-day life.

How I work

I work in an integrative way, bringing in different ways of working: sessions usually involve talking things through in the therapy room to explore and to understand what is going on for you.

I specialise in trauma, working with the effects of anxiety on the body and the ability to cope with day-to-day life. I focus on helping you to be calm and focused, regulating your nervous system.

I often use somatic therapy, such as Gestalt. This is where we look at how issues affect your body, understanding how sensations link to emotion. The body reflects past experiences, which we look at in the present, how you feel right now.

I also use Psychosynthesis, where we look at parts of self, and how they relate to your life choices.

There is an option to work outdoors and gentle movement/ posture work with the aim of connecting mind and body, if suitable to your personal therapy process. Sessions can also include mindfulness and reiki techniques to aid relaxation. We can discuss your needs as therapy progresses, and assess if counselling with the horses would be of benefit to you, if you wish.

Therapy room

Therapy takes place  either  in my cosy counselling room, or outdoors, as part of ongoing counselling.

A formal garden, next to the therapy room, offers a tranquil setting incorporating sunken seating, and an ornamental pond surrounded  by a  flower garden.

A more informal  secluded space is set in a small garden with  a seating terrace with views across the fields, stretching down to the stream.

Here is a short film on how nature can enhance therapy.

I also offer therapy on-line using Zoom.

I work with short or long-term  therapy  for clients over the age of 18 years.
