Reiki for Animals
I have always had a close affinity with all animals, especially horses, for as long as I can remember, but only recently have I had the courage to acknowledge that I have inherited this skill, which has led me along this path, helping others.
Reiki for your horse
Your horse must feel at ease and in their normal surroundings and routine as much as possible in order to get the most from the treatment. A session will leave them feeling very relaxed and some horses take a nap soon after as part of the healing process.
A Reiki session can be anything up to an hour as the horse dictates when he/she has had enough by moving away. Some horses, like some people, take up and use the healing energy a lot more effectively than others.
Reiki can help to:
- Reduce anxiety
- Promote self-healing
- Balance mind, body and soul
- Promote relaxation
- Reduce behavioural problems
- Release blocked energy
Reiki for your pet
Your pet is best treated in familiar surroundings to aid relaxation. Reiki healing is a gentle contact with the animal with my hands, or I can work in close proximity. Most animals enjoy Reiki and will approach for this gentle touch when they are ready. Your pet may be quite sleepy afterwards and might want to rest quietly.
Animals instinctively know how much healing they need and will generally move away when they have had enough. Some animals choose to stay a short distance away but they will still receive the healing energy the same.
Reiki is not a substitute for veterinary treatment. If your animal is under veterinary care you must obtain their permission for Reiki treatment to be given and they may even want to be present.
Price- from £40 plus travel.

The Veterinary Surgery Act of 1966 prohibits anyone, other than a qualified veterinary surgeon from treating animals, including diagnosis of ailments and giving advice on such diagnosis. However the healing of animals by contact healing, by laying of hands or distant healing is legal. The Protection of Animals Act 1911 requires that if an animal clearly needs treatment from a veterinary surgeon the owner must obtain this. To give emergency First Aid to animals for the purpose of saving life or relieving pain is permissible under the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 Schedule 3. I offer Reiki at my practice in Market Lavington.
What is Reiki?
Reiki (Universal life force energy) is an ancient technique, re-discovered by Dr Mikao Usui a Japanese theologian, in the 19th century. It is used to provide that extra boost for the body, promoting the flow of energy helping the body heal itself naturally.
During a treatment, I will channel this energy through my hands and use it to rebalance the chakras, or energy centres.
What happens in a session?
Reiki is a non-invasive, complementary therapy using the energy that flows through all living things, which Eastern medicine has worked with for thousands of years. You will be fully clothed lying on a couch or sitting on a chair. I will place my hands just above or lightly touch, different areas, concentrating on where the energy is most needed.
Your body will take as much energy as it requires. It has the ability to heal itself, but sometimes this healing process becomes weak, or blocked. Your energy can be affected by stress, anxiety, life events, or illness. Reiki helps to bring balance to your mind, body and soul, encouraging deep relaxation, promoting self-healing.
I offer Reiki as a one-off session, or combined with counselling sessions.
Reiki can help with (for example):
- Anxiety and Stress
- Poor circulation
- Balancing emotion
- Immune system
- Respiratory issues
- Skin problems

Welcome to my website. As a Therapeutic Counsellor, my aim is to provide a variety of options to improve both physical and mental health- a holistic way to feel good and to be, and to promote calmness and relaxation. I offer counselling and reiki near Devizes in Market Lavington, Wiltshire..
As a therapeutic counsellor, a combined approach to psychotherapy enables me to bring together different elements of specific therapies to work in the best way to help you. I work in an integrative way with a view that there is no single approach that can help each client in all situations.
Indoor therapy may not be for everyone: being outdoors can be very grounding and healing – connecting with nature can promote a sense of calm and serenity, even if the weather is bad! Nature is powerful and profound and can be refreshing for the soul.
Animals can play a very important part in the therapeutic process, aiding relaxation and a sense of calm, reflecting mood and body language.
Movement is good for both physical and mental health. Exercise boosts your mood, and improves physical awareness: classes are a great way to make friends.
Life can seem very busy. Taking a mental break through mediation helps you to discover a quiet place, away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Feeling overwhelmed is common if you have many worries on your mind, and trying to juggle daily life. Mindfulness helps you to focus on one thing at a time, to take time and to find pleasure in simple tasks, bringing a sense of calm to the day.
Physical and emotional issues can have a huge effect on the body’s energy. self-heal. Reiki can help to rebalance the equilibrium between mind and body through deep relaxation.
I am a qualified Counsellor, Reiki Master, Exercise Professional, and a British Horse Society Registered Equestrian Coach.
